Founder of  Surf Academiasurf camp in Sintra. Author of the surf book, “How to be a Surfer,” published in Portugal (2004),  and  U.S (2006).
Leader  of the  World Surfing Reserves (WSR) program, by Save The Waves Coalition.
Competitor of the  Big Wave World Tour (finished in 4th place in the 2011/2012 season)

Len Materman
Executive director of a government agency in California’s Silicon Valley that plans and implements flood protection, environmental, and recreational projects for the region. 
At Stanford University, Len helped launch the Center for Ocean Solutions and build the Center for Responsible Travel.  
Executive producer of a nationally broadcast documentary film on the Clean Water Act.  (America's Public Broadcasting Service (PBS)). And on behalf of the U.S. State Department, he advised governments in Eastern Europe on strategies to simultaneously conserve and develop protected natural areas.  
During the final two years of the Clinton Administration, Len served on two task forces of the White House Council on Environmental Quality, and since the founding of the World Surfing Reserves program, Len has served as a member of its Vision Council.  He has degrees in political science and biological sciences from the University of California, and was raised on the beaches of Hawaii.

Carlos Pereira da Silva
Born in Lisbon, 1965, graduated in Geography and Regional Planning, New University of Lisbon(UNL),
Portugal (1989) with a Ph.D. in New Technologies in Geography for the same
university (2003).

Lecture at the Department of Geography and Regional Planning – (UNL), responsible for the area of Remote Sensing and GIS,
MSc Territorial Management.

Researcher at the e-GEO, Centre for Studies of  Geography and Regional Planning, being since 2009 Head of the research group
Geographical Modelling Cities and Regional Planning.

His research interests are focus in coastal management, more specifically beach management, public participation studies
and carrying capacity.

Member of the Coastal Education Research Foundation. In 2009 was the Chair of the 10th
International Coastal Symposium that took place in Lisbon in April 2009.

José Carlos Ferreira
José Carlos Ferreira, is Assistant Professor at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Faculty of Sciences and Technology, Department of Environmental Sciences and Engineering where he works as a teacher in the disciplines of the M.Sc. in Environmental Engineering, M.Sc. in Sustainable Urban Planning and Postgraduate Course in Sustainable Cities. 

Jose Carlos is finishing its Phd in Environmental Engineering at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, holds a M.Sc. in Physical Geography and Environment and B.Sc. in Geography and Regional Planning, var. Physical Geography from University of Lisbon. 

His research activity is carried out within Environmental Planning and management of Coastal Zones and Oceans, Coastal artificialisation Planning (Process and Impacts), Coastal Tourism and Resorts Management,  Green Infrastructures and Urban Models of Occupation in Coastal Environment . 
He is a researcher at  Cense - Center for Environmental and Sustainability Research (UNL)
